YAMAHA OUTBOARDS - 12 VOLT ELECTRIC

M-12   The M-12, like all the Yamaha Electric outboards, runs from an external 12 volt battery. The M-12, although the baby in Yamaha’s range, produces over 33% more thrust than some competitors. Also the M-12 has no less than 5 forward speeds and three in reverse, which is again more than many other competitors. All this in a unit weighing just 9.5kg. Consequently, it is one of our most popular electric engines. For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
M-18   The M-18 electric outboard has a longer shaft than the M-12, enabling it to be used on craft such as yachts, where the engine is able to clamp directly to the coaming. As with the other electric engines, the M-18 is designed for use primarily on still water. With its 5 forward and 3 reverse speeds, the M-18 has a power setting for just about every occasion! For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
M-20   The M-20 produces almost 21kg thrust, and is ideal for larger craft. It is our most popular electric outboard, as it is extremely versatile. Virtually silent, as are the other Yamaha Electrics, with five forward and three reverse speeds, it is ideal for use on environmentally sensitive waters. In common with its smaller cousins, the M-20 has a telescopic tiller arm that incorporates the twist-grip throttle. As with all Yamaha Electric outboards, the M-20 has three shallow water drive angle settings, a height adjuster and has a tough corrosion proof composite shaft. All the motors used on Yamaha Electric outboards have permanent magnet motors and damage resistant casings and coatings to ensure a long and trouble free life. It is easy to see why the M-20 is a best seller.   YAMAHA OUTBOARDS 2.5HP - 8HP

F2.5A   The class leading Yamaha F2.5A four stroke features a proper gear lever operated clutch facility, a marine quality twist grip throttle and full water cooling. This results in an engine which is smoother, quieter, easier to operate and more reliable than its competitors. In fact the Yamaha 2.5hp four stroke outboard is the most refined single cylinder four stroke on the market! Being a four stroke makes it ideal for inland waterways, where its low noise levels are fully appreciated, unlike an air cooled competitor! Unquestionably, the Yamaha 2.5hp outboard exudes quality and is the best constructed engine in this class. Easy to carry, it may be laid down on its front, which becomes the natural way to put it down as the carry-handle is mounted at the rear. In addition it may also be laid down on one side. In contrast, all of its major competitors may only laid on one side and one side only(!) and are consequently much more difficult to handle and take up a much larger “footprint” than is possible with the Yamaha. All these advantages plus other unique features combine to make this baby of the Yamaha range the number one choice of boaters across the UK. The Yamaha F2.5AMHS is the standard shaft model, and for those clients whose boats have a higher transom, the F2.5AMHL long shaft version is also available. It is easy to see why this has quickly become our best selling small engine of all time! For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
F4AMHS / F4AMHL   URGENT - BUY NOW before they all go! The Yamaha F4A has been our best selling 4hp outboard for many years, and with good reason. It is the smallest and lightest 4hp four stroke on the market, but still has the features you expect on larger units. The F4AMHS weighs just 22kg dry, which is 3kg lighter than all its competitors. Equally as important as the actual weight is the fact that the Yamaha F4AMHS and F4AMHL are the only engines to have carry-handles both front and rear. The twin carry-handles and their light weights, makes these Yamaha 4hp outboard motors far easier to handle than any other outboard in this class, especially when passing it from one person to another! Of course they also have a twist grip throttle with adjustable friction, an integral fuel tank, reverse gear as well as forward and neutral, and a steering friction adjustment. The Yamaha F4A also features a multi angle shallow water drive, which allows the engine to be partially tilted when operating the outboard in shallow conditions. Also standard is a socket on the front of the cowling, which is ready to accept the fuel line from the optional remote fuel tank. This feature costs up to about £70-00 extra on some competitors’ engines! Having a remote fuel tank allows the range to be greatly increased without the potentially hazardous re-fuelling of the engine whilst at sea. This feature is especially popular with owners using the engine as an auxiliary for both yachts and powercraft and also for those using it on inland waterways. This is because the popular optional 12 litre remote fuel tank will allow the engine to run for hours and hours! In fact even flat out, the remote fuel tank will last for over 7 hours, and when cruising on lower settings, will run for 15-20 hours! IMPORTANT - DO NOT DELAY PURCHASE! Stocks are running very low on this exceptional light weight engine. The replacement model is considerably heavier and only has a single carry handle. For our special discount prices on both the Yamaha F4AMHS and the Yamaha F4AMHL long shaft, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
F4B / F5A / F6C   The Yamaha F4B, F5A and F6C models all share the same 139cc, single cylinder powerhead and leg. Fitted with an integral fuel tank, these outboards even have a built in primer bulb to ensure quick and easy starting at all times. They are also the only outboards in this class that can be laid down on either side or the front. Most other outboards in this class have to be laid on one side only. Being able to lay different three ways is obviously more convenient, and almost eliminates the chances of an error! The F6C is about 10kg lighter than the Yamaha F6A which it replaces. Although light in weight, they still offer forward, neutral and reverse gears, shallow water drive and a socket to allow a remote fuel tank to be connected to extend the range. For our special discount prices on the Yamaha F4BMHS / F4BMHL, Yamaha F5AMHS / F5AMHL or the Yamaha F6CMHS / F6CMHL, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
F8CMHS - F8CMHL   The Yamaha F8C is out best selling 8hp. Smooth and quiet, the superb twin cylinder Yamaha 8hp four stroke outboard meets most clients requirements perfectly! It is available as both the Yamaha F8CMHL long shaft and as the F8CMHS short shaft versions. Performance is assured as a consequence of the 197cc capacity, along with excellent fuel economy. Unlike most competitors, which often charge £200-00 extra, all models also feature a 6 amp, DC battery charging output as standard. For heavier displacement craft, these Yamaha 8hp four stroke outboards produces prodigious amounts of thrust when fitted with the optional Dual Thrust propeller. This makes it a perfect choice for use as an auxiliary engine on yachts up to about 26’ and powerboats up to 28’ in length for offshore use, and even larger craft for inshore or inland work. The Dual Thrust propeller also increases the reverse thrust tremendously, greatly enhancing manoeuvring and stopping capabilities. Smooth, quiet, economic, reliable and class leading performance make these Yamaha 8hp outboards the engines of choice! For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
FT8D High Thrust   The FT8D Yamaha High Thrust 8hp four stroke is unique in its class. This excellent outboard has an almost 3:1 ratio gearbox, mated with a very large diameter propeller. The result of all this is that this remarkable outboard engine produces the bollard pull thrust equivalent to the thrust produced by a typical 15hp engine, whilst in reverse, it easily outperforms 15hp outboards! All this from just 8hp! It actually produces as much thrust in reverse as the average 8hp motor does forwards! As a result, it is an ideal outboard motor for heavy displacement boats, such as yachts, canal cruisers, workboats etc., or if any towing is involved. On all the High Thrust models, battery charging is standard, and on the remote control versions, as well as electric start, power tilt is available. This is especially useful if for example a stern locker or even a stern cabin makes access awkward. On the tiller control models, the gear lever is mounted on the extra long tiller arm for maximum convenience. Not only does the Yamaha FT8D High Thrust offer by far and away the best performance for heavy boats in this class, but it is smooth, quiet, and of course, has Yamaha’s now legendary reliability, which for complete peace of mind is backed by a five year parts and labour warranty. For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©

  YAMAHA OUTBOARDS 9.9HP - 20HP

F9.9FMHS / F9.9FMHL / F9.9FES / F9.9FEL   Looking for a 9.9hp outboard? Look no further as the new lightweight Yamaha F9.9F from Yamaha has already proved to be a superb engine. Weighing from just 39.9kg, this engine may be light in weight, but it certainly delivers in all other respects. The performance is second to none and with low fuel consumption and low noise levels, the Yamaha F9.9F is proving hard to beat. On the tiller steered Yamaha F9.9FMHS and the F9.9FMHL models, a lever type, quick adjust steering friction maximises operator convenience. The Yamaha F9.9FES and F9.9FEL models are full remote control models, complete with electric start, and are supplied with a single lever type, remote control box with a built in ignition switch and emergency stop switch. Unlike most competitors, which often charge £200-00 extra, not only the electric start models, but also the hand start versions are fitted with a 6 amp, DC battery charging output as standard. These Yamaha 9.9hp outboards, like their smaller 8hp cousins, may also be fitted with the optional Dual Thrust propeller for heavier displacement craft. The Dual Thrust propeller not only dramatically improves the usable forward thrust when used on displacement craft, but it also increases the reverse thrust tremendously, greatly enhancing manoeuvring and stopping capabilities. Consequently, it makes the Yamaha F9.9F outboard the perfect choice for use as an auxiliary engine on yachts and other craft up to about 30’ in length. All of this and of course Yamaha’s legendary reliability. For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©
FT9.9G High Thrust   The new Yamaha FT9.9G High Thrust is both smaller and lighter than its predecessor. Importantly, it still retains the almost 3:1 reduction ratio gearbox, enabling the FT9.9G High Thrust four stroke to turn an enormous diameter propeller, with the result that the thrust produced is unmatched by any competitor. Not only does it produce prodigious amounts of thrust forwards, similar to that from competitors’ 15hp engines, but the reverse thrust is also phenomenal, resulting in far easier manoeuvring. The Yamaha FT9.9G series outboards are absolutely ideal for displacement craft ranging from catamarans, to yachts, to inland waterway cruisers, or as a powerful auxiliary engine on 25’-35’ powercraft. Smooth, quiet and very economic, these engines are available long or extra long shaft lengths with either hand start, tiller control, (FT9.9GHML / FT9.9GMHX)or electric start, remote control (FT9.9GEL / FT9.9GEX). Also as shown, is the FT9.9GEPL electric star, remote control version, complete with power tilt, enabling the engine to be tilted clear of the water a the press of a switch. This is of course ideal on those craft where the engine is awkward to reach, such as centre cockpit cruisers. For our special discount price, please call OUTBOARDS-DIRECT of BRIGHTON on 01273-603322 or e-mail us via the ‘Contact Us’ button towards the top left of this page. e.&o.e. ©

Both engine share the same 362cc capacity powerhead, which offers excellent torque to punch a boat up onto the plane, combined with very low engine noise and great fuel economy. On the tiller control models, not only is the gear lever mounted at the front of the engine maximum for operator convenience and comfort, but a quick adjust steering friction lever is also mounted at the front. A 10 amp alternator is standard on all electric start models, and a 120 watt lighting output is fitted to hand start versions. Also standard is of course Yamaha’s almost legendary reliability. On the 15hp model, a tiller control, but electric start version is offered suitable for long shaft transoms. Both the 15hp and the 20hp offer standard and long shaft models with hand start, tiller control, or electric start, remote control. Also available are some remote control, electric start models which even have power tilt, enabling the operator to tilt the engine at the press of a button!   FEATURES AND YAMAHA ACCESSORIES

Y-COP Security System   Customer Outboard Protection) is an industry first. It is an easy to use remote control, immobiliser security system. It has been introduced with the latest Yamaha F30B and F40F models. It even works with the tiller control versions! It has a neat and simple remote control “plipper” similar to that on most modern cars. With it, your engine functions normally. If someone attempts to use your outboard without having your remote “plipper”, the engine will not function normally. Obviously Y-COP makes your Yamaha outboard engine far less attractive to thieves, as the engine will not function normally without the little handheld “plipper”. The system comprises of three main items. The owner operated “plipper”, a receiver unit and the outboard’s own EMM engine management module. All you need to remember is to press a button on the “plipper” before starting the engine. When you switch the engine off the system automatically resets itself to its security mode.
Flexi-Rig   Many propeller and remote-control options are now available through Yamaha Flexible Rigging, and this gives the ultimate choice when rigging your boat. There is a choice of alloy, stainless steel or high performance three and four blade propellers, as well as side, top or concealed-mount remote-control boxes. Standard parts are included in the price of the engine, which include a propeller, a remote control box and the very latest LAN Digital gauges, which are NMEA2000 compatible and may be combined with other NMEA devices. E.&o.e. ©
Multi Function Gauges   Standard on some and available as an option on many others Yamaha engines, are three versions of these superb instruments. The most common example is the MULTI FUNCTION TACHOMETER. This displays via an easy-to-read 2 stage LCD digital readout: Engine RPM / Trim angle / Oil level / Hour meter / Warning lamps. The MULTI FUNCTION SPEEDOMETER is similar to the tachometer, but displays: Speed / Trip / Time / Fuel / Battery voltage with low fuel and low voltage warnings. Finally the similar FUEL MANAGEMENT GAUGE monitors: Fuel consumption / Fuel economy (using speedometer or GPS input for readings) / Fuel contamination (when Yamaha deluxe Fuel/Water Separator is used) For dual engine installations an engine synchroniser is included. ©
Outboard Motor Covers   The perfect match for your Yamaha outboard in colour, style and quality. This range of covers have been custom designed for each Yamaha model, to provide a snug fitting cover to protect your engine from scratches, dust, sunlight and the weather in general. The outer material is an extremely durable and high quality waterproof fabric that is resistant to rot, mildew and UV light, so that it just shrugs off the weather. The special soft inner lining protects the paintwork and helps eliminate condensation as well as making the cover easy to fit. Perfect fit for perfect protection, keeps your engine looking its best and of course, a better looking engine keeps its value longer! e.& o.e. ©
Dual Thrust Propellers   Yamaha's patented Dual Thrust propellers are specially designed for yachts and any other large displacement craft. They are built to handle the job of pushing heavy loads through the water. The hub is carefully designed to redirect the exhaust flow away from the blades so that Dual Thrust propellers cut through “clean water” for higher efficiency and better acceleration. Thrust is improved by up to 70% in reverse and 10% forwards. e.&o.e. ©
Yamaha propellers   Yamaha provide virtually every different type of outboard motor propeller of which you can think! Aluminium, through black stainless steel, to polished stainless steel, to high performance over-hub-exhaust propellers. Yamaha can provide them all. Please ask for details as to which propeller will best suit your needs. e.&o.e. ©

DETAILS OF EXHAUST EMISSIONS ETC. NEAR BOTTOM OF PAGE.

Emissions Regulations: The Truth   There has been, and still is a lot of serious misinformation concerning the EU 2006 emission regulations. Firstly, these are the ONLY regulations that affect recreational outboards sold in the UK and the rest of the EU. Regarding NEW outboard motors, only new technology (Direct Injection) spark ignition two stroke (for example, the Evinrude E-TEC range), spark ignition four stroke and compression ignition engines meet the new standards and are the only outboards which may be manufactured within, or imported into the EU now. Spark ignition means all engines powered by petrol / gas, whilst compression ignition means engines powered by diesel. HOWEVER, contrary to popular belief, ALL outboard motors in use prior to the implementation of the new standard CAN continue to be used until they fall apart! The new directive does NOT BAN USE of conventional 2-STROKES. Not only that, but ALL UNSOLD non-compliant 2-stroke outboards which were already in the EU before 1st January 2007 (for non-compliant four strokes, the date was one year before) may still be BOUGHT, SOLD AND USED. Second-hand outboards will still be able to be sold in the normal manner. It has always been possible that an authority in charge of a particular area may impose their own local regulations. This applies primarily on inland waterways, and is most common on reservoirs, which often ban all engines except electric. So to reiterate, EVERY outboard motor in the EU prior to the implementation of the new standard CAN be bought, sold and used under the EU 2006 emissions directive. e.&.o.e. ©
EU 2006 Standard   EU 2006 Emissions Standards Label represents conformity to the EU emissions standards proposed by the Commission of the European Communities on 12th October 2000. IT IS THE ONLY EMISSION STANDARD THAT AFFECTS UK AND EU ENGINES. All other emission standards are irrelevant for the UK and the rest of the EU (for example EPA 2006, CARB 2004 /2008). The EU2006 standards will only affect the SUPPLY of NEW outboards for ‘RECREATIONAL’ use. By ‘recreational’, the regulators exclude engines for commercial registered vessels and racing engines. This text only is only with regard to recreational engines. ALL engines sold PRIOR to the full implementation of the standards on the dates shown below, may continue to be used. Effectively, after 31st December 2006, any NEW spark ignition two stroke outboard motor which does not meet the EU 2006 standards, (basically conventional carburettor / E.F.I. 2-strokes) will cease to be imported / manufactured into the EU. However, any engines held in stock by EU importers or dealers, which have been tax paid, are exempt, in the same way as though they had been sold prior to the regulations. Equally, only spark ignition four stroke and compression ignition (diesel) outboards, which meet the regulations, may be sold from 31st December 2005, with the same exemption about stock units. It should be noted that the spark ignition four stroke and compression ignition engines are required to meet the regulations a year earlier than spark ignition 2-strokes. (For more details see "Emissions: The Truth") Unlike the EPA and CARB standards, the EU 2006 standard covers three constituents of exhaust emissions, and noise levels. The exhaust emissions included are nitrous oxide and hydrocarbons (as included in EPA & CARB standards) plus carbon monoxide. Consequently the EU 2006 standard is the most difficult to attain compared with EPA and CARB. Unlike the US standards that allow a percentage of ‘dirty’ engines to be sold, the EU 2006 standard will affect EVERY NEW engine sold in the EU. The EU 2006 standard is also the only standard that also covers noise levels for outboards. It should be noted that the EU2006 standard also affects inboard engines in a similar manner to outboards. e.&.o.e. ©
EPA 2006 (U.S.)   EPA 2006 Standards label shows compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency exhaust emission standards. It covers nitrous oxide and hydrocarbon emissions. Conventional 2-strokes are unable to meet these standards. EPA standards are an indication of low emissions, but have no official status in the UK. e.&o.e. ©
CARB 2004 / 2008 (U.S.)   CARB standards are an indication of low emissions, but have no official status in the UK or the EU. CARB 2004 Two Star label (Very Low Emissions) and CARB 2008 Three Star label (Ultra Low Emissions) represents compliance with the California Air Resources Board standards, which will be implemented in 2004 and 2008 respectively. These standards are very strict, with the two star CARB 2004 standards representing 20% lower emissions than the EPA 2006 standards whilst the ultra strict CARB 2008 standards, represented by the three star label, represents a phenomenal 65% reduction of nitrous oxide (NO) and hydrocarbon emissions compared to the EPA 2006 standards. Presently, the three star CARB 2008 standards have the lowest limits FOR THE GASES THEY REPRESENT, compared with EPA 2006 and EU 2006 standards. Please note that the EU 2006 standard also includes carbon monoxide (CO) and noise emissions. As the CARB standards do not measure CO, they are able to have a lower nitrous oxide limit as there is a direct relation between Nitrous oxide and carbon monoxide. If the output of one is lowered, the quantity of the other is raised. In the USA the regulators are not concerned with carbon monoxide (even though it is a lethal, odourless and colourless gas!) and thus have set the nitrous oxide limit extremely low. The effect of this is that although the engines may be adjusted to meet this limit, the carbon monoxide output level has increased dramatically. Consequently, the EU 2006 European standard is actually much more difficult to meet than the CARB standards. Compared to old 1998 limits, CARB 2008 limits are 90% lower! e.&.o.e. ©
